On October 30, 2012 the armenian operator of post service "Haypost"
issued a postage stamp in memory of the historical capital of Armenia Artashat
city. The issue is printed in mini sheet of 10 values with decorating margins.

The city Artashat was founded on a place of the Urartu
settlement by Artashes I in 180 BC, and was the capital of ancient Armenia from
II century BC on the V century AD According to the Greek historians, the city was
under construction by councils and instructions of Carthago military leader
Hannibal. Artashat was the center of the Hellenistic culture in Armenia. During
Artashes I board there were Anait-Artemis's temples and the gallery of
Tir-Apollo with their copper gilded statues. In the 53rd year BC Evripid was
presented the tragedy "Bacchante" in Greek. Artashat was exposed more
than once to destructions from Romans and Persians. Romans, under Korbulon
command, in the 58th year AD grasped and destroyed «the Armenian Carthago». In
the 66th year AD had began the restoration city on means of the Roman Emperor
Neron. In this regard the city began to be called Neroniya, but soon the name
has forgotten.
