Having approved in the Caucasus Russia began careful
studying of the Caspian Sea with the middle of the XIX century as important strategic
region. For navigation safety on the northern coast of Apsheron in the second
half of the XIX century some beacons were built. On April 11, 2013 the enterprise “Azermarka” introduced into
circulation a postage Block of 5 values named "Absheron Beacons". On
stamps in block are represented: beacon Beyuk Zirya, Shuvalansky, Amburansky, Absheron
and Chilovsky beacons. On Block margins are submitted the Caspian Sea historical
sailing directions near the Apsheron archipelago.

The Absheron beacon - largest of local beacons, is
constructed in 1859 on the mountain opposite to the island Pir-Allakhi The beacon Beyuk Zirya on Nargin's island took effect for
the first time on December 11, 1884. The Amburansky beacon is built on a height of Kalagya in
1882 on the Amburansky spit. The Chilovsky beacon is constructed by British in 1864 on
the island the jiloy (Shakhilan, the initial name the island Ronis). The Shuvalansky beacon is also constructed by British in
1864
