On July 6, 2013 the Ministry of Communications and
Informatization of the Republic of Belarus will issue a postage block “400th
anniversary of preservation of the miraculous icon of the Mother of Godin
Budslau”. Designer: Yelena Medved. Printing: offset. Colour: full
colour. Paper: chalk-surfaced, gummed. Perforation: frame 12 3/4. Size of block:
66,5 x 83,2 mm.
Size of stamp in block: 40 x 56
mm. While printing the souvenir sheet they used the
technology of relief stamping and thermal stamping by metalized foil of golden
colour. Edition: 15.000 copies.
In 2013 Catholics celebrate the 400th anniversary of
preservation of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God in Budslau. The icon
was painted in oil on canvas sized 72x65 sm. Its iconography belongs to the
West-European Hodegetria type. The icon’s frame is made in the early 17th
century. In 1998 the icon was solemnly crowned by Cardinal Kazimir Sviontak. The miraculous icon of the Mother of God is one of the most
worshipped catholic icons in Belarus. It is placed in the Roman Catholic Church
of Ascension of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Budslau of Miadzel
district, Minsk region.
