Today, on May 14, 2013, the Latvian post introduced into
circulation a postage block dated for the 150 birth anniversary of the German
scientist-chemist, nee Latvian, citizen of the Russian Empire, member of the
Petersburg Academy of Sciences Paul Valdeman (1863-1957).

Paul Valden's researches in the field of stereochemistry
brought him a world fame. To what testifies a promotion of its candidate on
competition of the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1913 and in 1914. P. Valden
wrote many works on the chemistry history which most part is devoted to history
of the Russian chemistry.
