On January 30, 2013 the Latvia post by the "Free subject" issued a first postage stamp with indication of post face value in two currencies: Latvian centimes and EURO-cents. The issue is devoted to the Latvian athletes cyclists.

Cycling has the longest continuous history among all sports in Latvia. Victories of the Latvian athletes at large international competitions are connected with the following names: On the Olympic Games 1964 in Tokyo the silver medal was won by Imants Bodniyeks. On Olympic Games 1992 in Barcelona Daynis Ozols won bronze in group road race. Peter Ugryumov took the second place on prestigious multi-day cycle races of Giro d'Italia 1993 and Tour de France 1994. Maris Shtrombergs in bicycle cross-country race won the Gold Olympic awards in 2008 in Beijing and in 2012 in London and became the first and while the only Latvian athlete the double Olympic champion.
