In 1916 the German army constructed a wooden platform in Liduvenai. Some years later by order of the German occupational authorities on its place was built the steel bridge on which there was a statue of German chancellor Otto von Bismarck. During the Second World War in 1944 the bridge was blown up by receding German armies. The bridge was restored by engineering division of Red Army in 1952.
