The Lithuanians accepted Christianity later than the majority of other European people. In 1251 there was christened by the Grand duke Mindovg. Samogitia which inhabitants passed a sacred ceremony of a christen in 1413 after the Torun Pease again transferred this region under the power of grand Lithuanian dukes became the last region of Lithuania which has accepted Christianity. However, despite formal elimination of paganism in Lithuania, in the XV century the Lithuanian peasantry still stored pagan rites and traditions.
