On June 8, 2013 the Republic of Lithuania post introduced
into circulation a postage stamp dated for the 600 anniversary of the beginning
of construction by the Grand Lithuanian duke Vitovt of the St Peter and Paul Cathedral in Kaunas. Now the church is the biggest Catholic temple in
Lithuania and the only thing in the country the Gothic temple in the form of basilica.

The temple has in length of 84 meters and width of 34 meters. The main altar
of the church which author is the Polish sculptor Tomash Podgaysky, is dated
1755. Internal walls are decorated with icons of artists Yogann Gotarda
Berkhoff and Mikael Andriolli. And also esteemed image of the Suffering Mother
of God, recognized wonder-working in the XVII century.
