The Moldavian scientists (it isn't necessary to laugh
prematurely) after the long calculations and experiments output the proof
according to which the imagined axis of Earth passes through the center of
Chisinau. Exactly near the main post office. This place decided to
note the memorable sign "Ground Zero" with the indication of distance to the most
important centers of modern European civilization: Kagul, Ungen, Kalarash.
On December 12, 2012 the Moldavian post issued a postage stamp
with the image of an above-mentioned geographical point which promises to become
in the near future the main sight of the Moldova capital. The issue is printed in mini sheet of 20 values with decorating margins. Artist of stamp - Vitalie Leca. Edition - half million copies.
The philatelists from the Chisinau club in day of stamp issue
prepared some private artly covers which were used for the First Day cancelation.
On covers are submitted the images of the Chisinau main post
office, geographical coordinates of a geodetic sign site and also the stylized
designation of "Earth Center". As result the First Day envelopes turned
out more informative and colourful than that production at which have worked the
designers from "Poshta Moldovey".
Bearded joke memorable from Soviet period: "One Moldavian Jew addresses to the visitor: - Camarade, at whom you sewed this suit? - I just from Paris. - And is it far from Kishinev? - It is more than one thousand kilometers. - My God, such a solitude and haw well sew!"
