On June 20, 2013 at the post office of the Moldavian city Beltsy
took place the presentation of a postage issue "National traditions and
customs of Moldova". A set of 2 values represents the national rituals
connected with water: the ceremony causing a rain named "Paparuda"
and tradition of wells cleaning called "Curăţare a fîntînilor".
The issue is printed in 2 mini
sheets of 10 sets and label with decorating margins. Design: Simon Zamsha. Edition: 100 000 copies.
"Paparuda" is a ritual to summon the Rain which has
a pagan origin and is executed in the spring or during a severe drought. "Curăţare a fîntînilor" is a Christian religious
holiday which comes from ritual of a commemoration deceased, a call of a
precipitation and water purification in wells. Similar bright and joyful events have character of a
national holiday and pass at big gathering of people. They are favourite in the
way of carrying out leisure or short-term rest.
