Shi was the ninth human in space, but she was the first
among women. 50 years ago, on June 16, 1963, Valentina Tereshkova in spaceship “Vostok-6” circled the Earth issuing in
air of the entire phrase "I am Seagull! Everything goes well, onboard
everything is all right". One day prior to the Seagull start, on June 14, from
Baikonur one more Soviet ship went to space "Vostok-5". It was
piloted by Valery Bykovsky with a signal “Hawk”. Information that Bykovsky by
his flight "insured" a going to the orbit of the spaceship of
Valentina Tereshkova was secret. The start of the Bykovsky ship checked readiness
of the Tereshkova rocket for flight into an orbit.
