12.04.2012 Russia. "It came on our holiday"

New Year is the holiday which has come from time immemorial and until now the brightest and long-awaited celebration. The main symbol of holiday is a New Year tree. In Russia it appeared according to Peter's I order in 1700. According to the imperial Decree it was recommended to decorate houses with branches of a fir-tree, a pine and a juniper.

Yesterday the Russian post gave start to preparations for celebration of New year. On December 3, 2012 issued a postage stamp with image of the New Year's fir-tree which can be decorated by toys, candles and garlands and under which in New Year's Eve Santa Claus and Missis Snow hiding the fabulous gifts for children and adults.
The issue isprinted in combination of 4 postage miniatures in mini sheet of 16 values.
Design: О. Ivanova.
Size of stamps: 37 х 37 mm.
Edition: 496 000 copies (31 000 sheetlets).
