Concluded on January 9, 1792 between Russia and the Ottoman
Empire the Yassy peace treaty put an end to the Russian-Turkish war of
1787-1791. When guns become silent, business is entered by
diplomats. Peace talks from Russia were carried on by Prince G.
Potyomkin, and after his death count A.Bezborodko. Carrying out
diplomatic ceremonial in Dubossary became on June 4, 1793 a result of
negotiations. With the assistance of M.I. Kutuzov on the middle of
Dniester took place an exchange of the Russian and Turkish ambassadors.
On June 4, 2013 on the Dniester bank took place the festive
dramatized representation, opening of a memorable sign and festivities on the
occasion of the 220th anniversary of exchange by ambassadors between Russia and
Turkey. Indoors Dubossary Local History museum the enterprise "Marka
Pridnestrovya" held presentation of a postage block dated for this
important historical event. On block against a Dniester landscape are presented the portraits
of prominent statesmen of Russia of the end of the XVIII century: Alexander Bezborodko
from the Austrian artist Johann Baptiste Lampi work and Mikhail Golenischev-Kutuzov
from the Russian artist R. M. Volkov’s brush.
The postage block is printed on selfadhesive paper by
edition of 480 copies on Bendery Printing Plant "Polygraphist". Author: V. Lavrentiev. Designer A.Gladkaya. An insignificant part of issue is presented in form of the
art booklet and intended as souvenirs to guests of festive actions.
Accession of the most part of modern Transnistria to Russia
became a historical result of the Russian-Turkish war of 1787-91. In 1794 on lands
received as a result of the Yassy peace treaty was founded Odessa city - pearl
of the modern Ukraine.
