Moldova. The Millions years B.C.

On September 21, 2012 the Moldova post issued a set of 3 values "Unique monuments of natural heritage". The postage issue is devoted to the natural objects being in the territory of modern Moldova.

The issue is printed in 3 mini sheets of 10 values with decorating margins.
On stamps are presented the following plots:
- 1.20 Lei - "Buteshty Gorge". This picturesque canyon created about 15-20 million years ago, consists of limy sedimentations and is a part of huge geological formation in the territory of Moldova when was existence here the warm tropical seas: Sarmatia and Tortonsky.
- 4.20 Lei - "Hundred barrows (hills)" represents the hills relief formed 10-20 million years ago and stretched along a valley of the river Prut.
- 7.0 Lei - "Cave" Emil Rakovitsa" (in the people simply "Cinderella") - one of the biggest in the world of caves.

Estonia. The Missing

The Estonian post continues a series of stamps dedicated to the statesmen of Estonia. Today, September 24, 2012, is issued a postage stamp devoted to the 140th anniversary of the head of the Republic of Estonia Jaan Teemant.

Jaan Teemant (1872-1941) graduated from the law faculty of St. Petersburg University and then served as an assistant attorney in Tallinn. He took an active part in the Revolution of 1905, from reprisals fled to Switzerland. In the Russian Empire, was sentenced to death. After returning in Estonia in 1908 he was sentenced to fifteen years in prison and served time in St. Petersburg, then in exile in the Arkhangelsk region.
In 1932 he became Head of the Estonian state.
In 1940, Jaan Teemant was arrested by the NKVD and will probably be shot in the Tallinn Central Prison. According to other sources, he was sentenced to ten years and served his sentence in a prison camp. Since 1941, information on his fate is lost.

Russia. Wishful thinking

The popular wisdom says «If can't change circumstance, change the relation to them». To this rule the Russian state, sports and post functionaries decided to adhere with reference to results of performance of the Russian national team on the XXX summer Olympic Games in London. In all-command offset Russian national team on the Olympic Games won only the fourth place. Though is an honorable place, but not the prize-winning. And as a whole performance of the Russian athletes should be considered not as successful, and more likely as failure!

However, the Russia's post leadership on this subject there is another opinion. According to the officials, "In the unofficial team standings Russia took fourth place, behind the U.S., China and the UK. By total number of medals of the Russian team surpassed their performance at the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing."
Considering the importance of event on September 21, 2012 in the Russian Federation is issued a postage block with overprint devoted to the Olympic Games XXX in London. Overprint text: «On Olympic Games XXX the Russian athletes won 24 gold, 26 silver, 32 bronze medals».
Block edition - 25 thousand copies.

Latvia. Metropolis

On September 21, 2012 the entreprise “Latvyas pasts” isused a postage block of 2 values devoted to the 450 anniversary of the basis of the Kurzema and Zemgale duchy. On block are represented the count Ernst Iokhann Biron - governor of the duchy from 1737 to 1741 and from 1763 to 1769 and duke Ekab Ketler who not only ruled the duchy forty years - from 1642 to 1682 but also has based a colony of Latvia on Tobago.

Courland and Semigallia is the duchies existing in the western part of modern Latvia, in the territory of historical areas to Kurzema (Courland) and to Zemgal (Semigalia), from 1562 to 1795. Throughout all history of the duchy, till 1791, governors of Courland from dynasties Ketlers (1562-1711) and Birons (1737-95) recognized themselves as vassals of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth which has come to it in the stead. The capital of the duchy was Mitava. At the third section of Poland (March, 1795) Kurland as the province is attached to the Russian Empire.

Ukraine. The Genoese fortress

From the ancient times this city called differently: the Byzantines called it Sidagios and Sugdey, the Italians called it as Soldaya, in the Old Russian sources it was Surozh. During the Ottoman time the city received the name Sudak which carries to this day.
On September 20, 2012 the Ukrainian post introduces into circulation a postage stamp devoted to the 1800 anniversary of Sudak city located on the southeast coast of Crimea.

The issue is printed in mini sheet of 12 values with decorating margins.

Sudak city was founded by saugdads (one of adygsky tribes) allegedly in 212. In the VI century, by order of the Byzantian emperor Justinian I, in Sudak was built the fortress.
In the XIII-XIV centuries Sudak was destroyed by Mongols, but quickly restored. In 1365 Sudak was conquer by geniuses and is included in structure of the Genoa possession in Crimea. From these ages are remained the towers and city fortifications called as "The Genoa fortress”.
In 1475 together with all Genoa territories and the orthodox principality was conquer by the Ottoman Empire. During the Ottoman sovereignty the city lost military value and fell into decay.
In 1783 Sudak together with all Crimea departed to the Russian Empire.

Russia. The gasps and sighs

On September 21, 2012 the Russian post within the joint project of post administrations of member countries of Regional Commonwealth of communication will introduce into circulation a postage stamp "Russian national clothes". On stamp are represented an emblem of RSS and the Vologda province inhabitants in smart furniture: the young man in festive suit and the girl in wedding attire.

The issue is printed in mini sheet of 12 values with decorating margins.
Designers: V. Beltukhov (stamp), H. Betredinova (decorating sheet margins).
Size of stamp: 37х50 mm.
Edition: 360 000 copies (30 000 sheetlets).

The Russian national suit remained since ancient times and up to now. It distinguishes a set of regional features, among which large number of outer clothing nakidnye and raspashnye. Cap clothes nakidnye put on through the head; the raspashnye clothes had a cut from top to bottom and were clasped end-to-end on hooks or on buttons.

Azerbaijan. "I wave by hand at them"

After butterflies, flowers and horses the Azerbaijani post issued the next definitive series with the image of ducks. On September 14, 2012 a new definitive issue of 3 values “Ducks” is entered into the post circulation of Azerbaijan.
On stamps is presented the ferruginous duck (Aythya nyroca) - duck of the average sizes living in average and Southern Europe, in the Western and Central Asia. It inhabits reedy lake with open spaces of water. It kept in pairs or small groups. It’s good and fast flying, easily takes off from water. It rarely comes ashore. The ferruginous Duck is a coveted target for amateur hunters. The hunt for him begins in the early fall and lasts about two months.

The issue is printed in big sheets of 91 values.
