In 2002 for the first time in the sovereign Ukraine history the
Ukrainian grand master Ruslan Ponomarev became the world champion in chess
among men according to the version of FIDE. With a postage issue to the general
chorus of congratulations to the grand master from Gorlovka (Donetsk region) joined
also the Ukrainian post.
Exactly ten years later is a new success of the Ukrainian
chess school. 27-year-old Anna Ushenina from Kharkov became the fifteenth world
champion in chess among women. In the ending of world chess championship in
Khanty-Mansiysk (Russia) the Ukrainian woman won a victory over Antoaneta
Stefanova from Bulgaria.
From the moment of finding of Ukraine independence Anna
Ushenina became the first Ukrainian champion in chess among women. To it only
once in 1950 a
chess crown the native of the city of Lubny (Poltava region) Lyudmila Rudenko
who became the second in the history of chess and the first world champion
among the Soviet chess players possessed.
On the final game way Anna Ushenina beat Cory Deysi -
the Peruvian, the ex-Ukrainian, Slovenia representative Anna Muzichuk, the Russians
Natalia Pogonina and Nadezhda Kosintseva and also the Chinese woman Tszyuy
Ventszyun.
With congratulations to the Chess Queen addressed the
President of Ukraine. By the Cabinet of Ministers resolution to the champion
will write out a monetary award. As the Ukrainian post this time it stores
sacral silence. The "Ukrposhta's" general director probably as female
jealousy ignored the success of more eminent compatriot.
Thanks to the enthusiasts of the Kiev club, the achievement
of the Ukrainian chess player would remain forever lost for philately.
Thanks to opportunities of the “Photo stamp” project the postage issue is made in
5 various miniatures with the image of the Chess Queen - "the Komsomol
member, sportswomen and simply beauties".
The plots are printed on five different sheets of "Photo
stamp": 2007 "Kiev Pechersk Lavra", "We wish good
luck", "Flowers", 2008 "Congratulation" and 2010
"Petrikovsk painting".
All above-mentioned sheets are from the second type edition
- with protection by ultra-violet paint drawing of six-place number on label or
sheet margin.
Anna Ushenina didn't wait for favor by nature and realized
the talent in real sports result - the Champion's title. The Kiev club collectors
also don't expect favor from the inert "Ukrposhta’s" officials.
Thanks to creative thinking and resource "Photo stamp" they realize
own ideas and embody them in philatelic production, which marks achievements of
sportsmen-Olympians, football players, chess players making glory and pride of the
new Ukraine.
