Ukraine. Le médicament doux

The eighth postage definitive issue “Flora of Ukraine" replenished with the next face value - an ukrainian letter "Є". On November 5, 2013 the Ukrainian post introduced into circulation a postage stamp with the image of a leaf and a fruit of the sea-buckthorn The face value of issue corresponds to $0.70 - a tariff for an airway letter abroad weighing up to 20 gr.
The information about the series beginning is published on website UkraFil in the News of January 13, 2012.

The sea-buckthorn is one of the most ancient known medical plants. The mentions of this wonderful berry are stored in an ancient manuscripts of Tibet, Mongolia and also in doctor books of the Chinese medicine. All descriptions are consolidated to that a sea buckthorn - an universal herb. The ancient Greeks called this berry "shining horse" as its fruits quickly restored strengths of patients and the exhausted horses. Later berries of a sea-buckthorn began to treat soldiers.

Ukraine. "Pommiers et poires s'épanouissent"

The operator of post service "Ukrposhta" continues the eighth definitive issue "Flora of Ukraine" by edition of a new postage face value - latin letter "G".  Which correspond $0.80 - costs of the non-registered surface letter abroad weighing from 21 to 50 gr.
On October 22, 2013 is introduced into circulation a postage stamp with the image of a leaf and a fruit of an ordinary pear (Pyrus communis).

Lettonie. Palais des connaissances

The Yelgava palace constructed in the XVIII century on the project of architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli is one of the most graceful architectural monuments.  Place of stay of knights of the Livony order and the former residence of dukes in the XX century It became Alma Mater of students and professors.
In 1936 the government of the Republic of Latvia decided to reconstruct the Elgava palace for agricultural faculty of the Latvian university. The main task of educational institution is creation of intellectual potential for a sustainable development of the rural regions of Latvia.

On September 16, 2013 the enterprise “Latviyas pasts” throughout a series "The Higher School of Latvia" introduced into circulation a postage value devoted to the Latvian agricultural University. The issue is printed in tete-beche pair in mini sheet of 10 values with decorating margins.

Lituanie. Debout à l'attention

On August 24, 2013 the Lithuania post issued a postage value devoted to a military uniform of the Republic of Lithuania armed forces. On stamp is represented the military personnel of the Lithuanian army in full dress of the private and the junior officer.

At the beginning of the XX century and about its fortieth years the Lithuania armed forces were called as Army of Lithuania. In 1940 the Lithuanian army was disbanded and sent to submission to armed forces of the Soviet Union. Formation of armed forces of modern Lithuania began during disintegration of the Soviet Union. On January 17, 1991 the government of Lithuania officially declared the beginning of creation of own armies intended for protection of borders. In a year also were created the military and air forces of the country.

Ossétie du Sud. Léopard jaune, aigle d'or

On the night of August 8, 2008 the Georgia armed forces attacked the territory of South Ossetia, shot part of the Russian contingent of Peacekeeping forces, and destroyed the capital Tskhinval.  The Russian Federation, having took part in defence of inhabitants of South Ossetia and own citizens, It entered armies into the republic and after five days of operations forced out the Georgian military from the region.
On August 26, 2008 Russia recognized the state sovereignty of South Ossetia and Abkhazia - two former autonomies entering as a part of Georgia and achieving full independence of it still before disintegration of the USSR. In reply Tbilisi broke off diplomatic relations with Moscow and declared two Transcaucasian republics occupied territories.

Five years later, on July 14, 2013, in Tskhinval in the presence of the President of the Republic South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov and the Minister of Communications of Russia Nikolay Nikiforov took place solemn presentation of the first South Ossetia postage stamp from the moment of official recognition of the republic as the sovereign state. Issue is dated for the 5th anniversary of recognition of independence of the Republic South Ossetia by the Russian Federation. The announcement about issue is published on the website Ukrafil in release of August 16, 2013.
On stamp are presented a national flags and the coats of arms of Russia and South Ossetia, framed with a national Ossetian ornament, and the text in the Ossetian language "August, 26, Recognition of independence of the Republic South Ossetia by the Russian Federation". And also the state name in English and Ossetian languages, year of the edition and face value - 15 som (rubles).

Ukraine. Un monastère de roche

On September 15, 2013 the post of Ukraine introduced into circulation a postage block devoted to the 1000 anniversary of the Holy Useknovensky Lyadova Monastery based by the ancestor of the Russian monkhood Saint Antony Pechersky. On stamp and block margins are presented the monastic rocky monastery and a view on Dniester more coolly and on Lyadovo village. The scope of issue repeats a plot presented on one of stamps of the previous Ukrainian block "Vinnytsia region" which message is published on the website Ukrafil in News of September 12, 2013.

The Holy Useknovensky Lyadova rocky man's Monastery is located in Lyadovo village of Vinnytsia region on high cretaceous rocks with curative sources from which height the panorama of a valley of the Dniestr River opens. According to the legend it was based in 1013 by Saint Antony Pechersky who became later also the founder of Kiev Pecherskaya Lavra, on his way from sacred Mount Athos to Kiev. Useknovensky Lyadova Monastery was the first cave monastery based by Antony Pechersky, and the first Christian monastery in this region.

Estonie. Plat pour l'Empereur

"What magnificent mushrooms! - Delightfully ancient Roman emperor Claudius told the spouse Agrippina treating with his house dinner.- Why they didn't give to my table earlier? From now on let give me only such mushrooms!".
On September 12, 2013, in Estonia is introduced into post circulation a second issue devoted to the poisonous mushrooms growing in the dense forests of the Finn. A postage value with the image of a deadly mushroom under the name "Pale Toadstool" (Amanita phalloides). The issue is printed in sheet of 25 values of poisonous lilac coulor.

Amanita phalloides, commonly known as the death cap, is a deathly mushroom with a long period of latency as its poisons cause major damage to the liver and the kidneys. The death cap is so poisonous that it should not put even into the same basket with mushrooms intended for the kitchen, which can then become equally poisonous. In Estonia the death cap grows in broadleaved forests in August and September.
